Zuckerhütl 3505m

This distinctive rocky spur is the highest mountain in the Stubai Alps, and offers a rewarding and panoramic summit tour, which can be accomplished in about 3 hours starting from the Becherhaus.

If you cross the Übeltalferner from the Becherhaus in the direction of Müllerhütte, you can see the base of the Wilden Paff – east ridge.

This trail leads initially over moderately steep serpentines, then continues to the summit of the Pfaffengipfel by block climbing. The trail is well secured in the upper part (UIA II). There you can experience the view of the Zuckerhütl in front of you, just within reach. The short north-facing descent to the Pfaffensattel leads over easy but partially gravelly terrain.

A predominantly solid trail leads across the glacier to the access point into the south wall. The trail is secured with a number of drill picks and leads to the peak of the Zuckerhütel.

Caution: There have been repeated rockfalls at the Zuckerhütl during the summer months in recent years. Please be sure to inform yourself about the conditions beforehand, as of 2022.

Zuckerhütl Westgipel Paffenschneide 3498m

As there have been repeated rockfalls at the Zuckerhütl in recent years, the Stubai mountain guides have organised an alternative tour to the western peak of the Zuckerhütl.
You can reach it in about 4 hours starting from the Becherhaus. The route is the same as that to the Zuckerhütl. However, the trail from the Pfaffensattel leads beneath the Zuckerhütel in the direction of the Pfaffenhoch.

After passing the Zuckerhütel, you will soon discover the equally imposing summit on your left. At the lowest point between Pfaffenschneide and Pfaffenkogel, you will find the access point into the summit ridge that leads to a statue of the Madonna on the 3498m summit.
